Movie: Behind Every Door Screening & Panel Discussion

Behind Every Door is the ongoing collaboration of storyteller Kim Kilpatrick and visual artist Rachel Gray, who work together to create accessible art that can be experienced through multiple senses. Their collaboration is rooted in disability arts, accessibility, and the sharing of underrepresented voices and experiences. Behind Every Door is a film that draws on stories collected from patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers in the Bruyère Palliative Care Unit. Using hand painted oil animations, it visualizes the experiences of people engaging with death and dying in different ways. The film incorporates audio descriptions for blind and low-vision audiences as both a storytelling platform and a creative outlet, viewing accessibility as a site of artistic potential.
