Practical ways to make your home safe, comfortable, and long-term livable. Most people want to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, but many homes are not designed with aging in mind. This workshop provides practical strategies to help participants identify potential safety risks and make simple, effective changes that support independence, comfort, and confidence at home. Topics include fall prevention, home modifications, bathroom, kitchen and bedroom safety, assistive devices, available funding options, seasonal hazards, technology that supports independent living, and knowing when it may be time to reassess the home environment. We also discuss preparing the home for a safe return after a hospital stay. Take-home resource: Home Safety Checklist Our free 4-part Aging in Place Workshop Series provides practical information, helpful tools, and local resources to support older adults and their families as they plan for the future. Led by an experienced nurse, the series covers preparing the home for safe and independent living, building a strong support system, having important conversations about future care wishes, navigating the transition from hospital to home, and understanding available care options and funding. Participants will leave each workshop with greater clarity, confidence, and a helpful take-home resource they can use to begin planning at their own pace.
