For 25 years, the 48 Hour Film Project has encouraged amateur and professional filmmakers from around 130 editions worldwide to make 4-7 minutes films in only one weekend. The Best Film from each city or region competes internationally at Filmapalooza for the Cannes Short Film Corner. Best of Filmapalooza (1:00- 1:45 pm) Enjoy an amazing selection of international award winning filmsincluding Atlantic Canada's best film from 2025, winner of Audience Award and Best Use of Prop at Filmapalooza 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal. Best of Atlantic Canada 48 Hour Films 2026 (2:00- 2:45pm) Enjoy a selection of the Best 48 Hour Films in Atlantic Canada. The winner of Best Film will receive $1000 prize from Tidekite and compete internationally at Filmapalooza 2027 in Curacao! At kickoff teams drew a pair of genres, and were assigned 3 elements, a prop, a character and a line of dialogue. This year, 16 out of 18 teams were able to submit their films on time.
